Do you want York’s new developments to prioritise safe, accessible and convenient cycling? Do you live in or visit Fishergate? Then come to the consultation event for the proposed development at Ordnance Lane, on Monday 25 November between 5-7:45pm at Cycle Heaven Hospital Fields Road.
Both this development and its consultation event are Council-led, giving us a real opportunity to ensure safe, convenient and accessible cycling is genuinely prioritised. The architects and York City Council’s Housing Delivery Team for this important housing development will be at the event – let them know how important it is that cycling be prioritised in this way.
The development is one of eight projects set to deliver over 600 homes in York. We strongly believe that these developments should adopt a positively active-travel agenda and car-lite or, car-free, approach. We feel that if you can’t make car free work in this corner of Fishergate – with its relatively central location, easy access to local amenities, excellent public transport, decent cycle infrastructure and already high modal share of cycling trips, then you can’t do it anywhere. But the planning application will only support this if a strong enough message comes through the consultation, which is why we’re urging you to attend and share your views.
This is a council-led consultation – tomorrow, Monday 25th November 2019 5pm-7.45pm at Cycle Heaven, 31 Hospital Fields Road, York, YO10 4FS. Refreshments are provided. See you there!
