York Cycle Campaign have held four informal pop up stalls at the York Train Station with British Transport Police since November. Our aim was to raise awareness of our campaign, promote safe riding, and bike security.
We have enjoyed working with the British Transport Police and have formed a good relationship with PC Matthew Coleman and his team who have been present at the stalls offering free bike marking.
The March stall was very successful, we even had a queue of people waiting to talk to us and get their bikes marked. We were surprised when people didn’t mind stopping even when it was freezing. We spoke to many York residents who regularly commute and park their bikes at the station over at the stalls and were glad to see even a few YCC members show up, so our marketing is working well. A big cheers to our volunteers who had to deal with the freezing winter, and everyone who has promoted these events.
We are currently planning two more pop up stalls at York Railway Station, and encourage all our members to come along on the 22nd of April and 29th of May between 16:30 – 18:30. And yes, marking will be available and it will be great to meet other members.
