Decorating firm Grōni have renewed their support for York Cycle Campaign.

Grōni tells us ‘As a company invested in sustainability, we understand city transportation needs to change. The push for electric vehicles is welcomed, but they don’t solve congestion issues. We want to test using cargo bikes in the city instead. Something which works great in Europe. Tradesmen in the UK are stuck in the old ways of thinking. Our goal is to change that, and motivate others to join. We support any effort to increase cycling as the main means of transport.’
‘We operate using a hybrid system where we bring our cargo bike on top of the van and leave the van parked outside of York, and cycle the rest. This way another diesel van is prevented from entering the city, and green transport is used instead.’

‘We are the first fully sustainable painters & decorators in Yorkshire. We use only non-toxic paints, responsibly sourced paper, we avoid using single-use plastic, plant a tree for every job we take on, and offer a unique zero emission ‘Pedal & Paint’ service, where we cycle to our customers with our custom trailer and an e-cargo bike.’

As a Campaign we think it’s great to have the support from a company who are leading the change using cargo cycles as a low-carbon, low-congestion option to get to jobs.
It’s really proves how versatile cycling can be as a transport option around the city, and that its not limited to the stereotypical uses.
